Taking care of children has always been a part of my life. My mom was a child care provider for 43 years. From age 11 to 17 I attended a charter school, so I was home three days a week. On those days I helped care for daycare children. If daycare parents needed child care on nights or weekends, I was always available then as well. The daycare children were like family to us. I was the youngest in my family, so I saw them as little siblings I didn't have. I am still in contact with many of the families I grew up with.

The summer after graduating from high school, I was an assistant at another home daycare for a few months, until I was hired by a previous daycare parent as a dispatcher for a plumbing company. I worked for that company for 4 years, but I often provided child care for my co-workers on nights and weekends. I always thought about having my own home daycare some day.
Besides my love for children and my background, I also thought it would be a wonderful way to be able to stay home with my daughter. I obtained my child care license when my daughter was 2 months old. It has been 13 years now, and I love my job!
